How to Prepare Green Matcha Tea

Since matcha is a powdered tea, it does not require traditional steeping like loose-leaf teas. Instead, it is whisked into hot or cold water for a smooth, frothy drink.

Hot Matcha Tea (Traditional Method)

1. Sift ½ to 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl to remove clumps.
2. Add hot water (about 2-3 oz of 175°F / 80°C water – not boiling).
3. Whisk vigorously in a zigzag (M or W) motion using a bamboo whisk until frothy.
4. Enjoy as is or add milk and sweetener for a matcha latte.

Iced Matcha (Cold Brew Method)

1. Add ½ to 1 teaspoon of matcha powder to a shaker or jar with a lid.
2. Pour in 8-10 oz of cold water or your favorite milk.
3. Shake well for about 30 seconds until fully dissolved.
4. Pour over ice and enjoy a refreshing matcha drink.
